I didn't buy this set for the mastering as I own all the original CDs (which I suspect will always be my go to versions). Have to say this is par for the course with the new Blue Nile Deluxe Mastering. ![]() ![]() I have a large backlog of CDs to listen to and plan to listen more to this in the next couple of weeks. I will not be doing anymore critical listening of the new CDs for the moment. The new CD is louder and it certainly makes this problem more noticeable (it jumps out at you on the new CD when listening on headphones). If I crank the volume to a large degree I think there might be a problem at this point of the track on the old CD also. Listening to my old original CD at the same volume level there is nothing particularly noticeable. I listened with with my Sennheiser HD650s using my Beresford Bushmaster MKII DAC Headphone Amp which is pretty revealing.Īt a normal listening level on the new Deluxe CD1 there is obvious distortion / artefacts on the lines "Tomorrow will be Xmas - we'll be singing the old songs etc". ![]() I have listened to the "Family Life" track on the new CD and compared it with old CD at the 2.24 point in the track. Click to expand.Well I received the new Deluxe CD set yesterday on a Sunday (a first even for Amazon!)
